Strawberry Shortcake For All

Was a pretty nice weekend in the land of Org (Oregon) and the start of another wonderful week.  This weekend marked the 107th running of the our annual Strawberry Festival...

and the World's Largest Strawberry Shortcake...
shown above in 1955 and below in the...

1960's.

Here the modern day Shortcake shown below....

with the commencement of serving after the parade...

The Strawberry Princess' were nominated...and a queen was selected...

It was a hot day with temps in the high 90's so one of Lebanon's finest was out cooling down the parade participants..

and the crowd.

Bands played...

and folks danced.

The Grand Parade was filled with entrants this year that included a great looking
Texas Longhorn...

Marching Bands...

Race Cars...

and Cowgirls too!

We have the Strawberry Cup Races...
at Willamette Speedway, where dirt trackers from around the western states
vie for the coveted Strawberry Cup honors.

Jet boat racing located just west of the Willamette
Valley Speedway was part of the action as well years past.

The Festival ends on Sunday, but Saturday is the day to attend all the activities including the Strawberry Festival Carnival.

where if you stay long enough, you can watch the sunset from a wonderful and exciting vantage point.

Strawberry Fest....

I miss the days spent with
my girls at the Festival.

How very cool! We had a summer fair where I grew up in Michigan. The Ionia Free Fair. It boasted to be the worlds largest free fair. It was really fun.:) Thanks for sharing, Dave.

Yeah, is a fun filled weekend round these parts and I love most the sound of the race cars as we're only a mile away from the track. We can also see the Sat night fire works from our back deck too, but too dark to take pics. Always great to have you stop by!

The festival looks so fun! I've been to Watermelon Festivals, Peach Festivals, and Pecan Festivals. The best was the World's largest pecan pie! I love it! Good country fun!

Yes Ma'am they serve up that shortcake in individual pieces right after the parade at the festival grounds and it's all free! Now, go get some sleep! hahaha!

Wow, that strawberry shortcake is amazing! This looks like a festive day for all. My brother-in-law lived in Oregon before he passed away last year. He loved it there and always shared with us pictures of his ranch.

I bet you had some fun times with your girls at this festival, Dave.

Hi Sheri, Yes, we enjoyed a full day of parade, strawberry shortcake, carnival, and it marked the kick-off to summer vacation for them. I'm sorry to hear of the brother-in-law's passing. His sharing of pics definitely says to me he loved it here in Oregon. Thanks for sharing some memories and I look forward to visiting your blog to read your next wonderful post. Have a wonderful summer!
