A BLUE EYED KITTEN



A kitten blue eyed as can be,
lives far about this land from me.
Not by choice and did confide
is where this kitten must reside.

A place where once did live this kitty,
nestled to big apple city.
A metro which seems never sleep,
but in her heart this kitten keeps.

Now living in the country air,
not damped her spirit, nor fueled dispair.
A place of which is missed so dearly,
is the home she knows as Jersey.

A kitten that I must contend,
a wound she knew not help me mend.
Another that was once now gone,
this kitten's helped me to move on.

So many friends of whom I care,
for you is who this poem I share.
That this accord be not of chore,
and do hope last evermore.

Who or what brought you to Etsy?

My sister actually introduced me to Etsy.



 

What does a day at TwistedAim consist of?

No day is ever like any other for me. I am always looking for inspiration.

What or who inspires you?

Life and all the people and things surrounding me inspire me. I feel we all see the world differently and I aim to share my view.

What do you find most challenging running your own business?

Finding customers.

Where do you hope to see TwistedAim in the next year?

I hope that I will have a broader customer base and intend to start doing Website Photography as well for clients.

Where Is The Love



In light of the earthquake, tsumani, and ensuing devastation wreaked upon Japan.  Then to read and see this mornings news events of the French initiating strikes against Libya and with the U.S. joining in, well lets just say it got me to thinkin'.  Now, I'm not gonna get into the politics of the Libian strikes, but it led me to think about us, americans and how we treat oneanother, where is the love?

I won't get into specifics, but we all know things aren't getting any better, especially for most of us here in the states.   

I implore you, be kind to oneanother, care for our elderly, children, and women.  Care for each other.  We will need oneanother, sooner than we think.

Who is the person behind Sarabellknits? Tell a little about yourself.

My name is Sara Zinn, Sarabell was a nickname one of my best friends started calling me, so I ran with it. I live in CT with my boyfriend, my 2 rats and rat terrier dog. I just recently graduated from art school, and ended up with a BFA in photography. I still work with photography (At both a portrait studio, teaching photography classes, and my own artwork). I apply my creativity also to my knitting, and spend a lot of time designing and brainstorming new ideas. Knitting, for me, just another way to express my creativity.

What brought you to Etsy?

 

I believe I stumbled upon Etsy one day                                        

browsing the internet

(think actually while I was in class) and

the idea of selling my handmade items

stuck with me. I had already began

designing and creating my headbands,

along with a couple scarves. One day,

I just decided to do it and I made a shop

for myself (it wasn't very good to start,

 but I've got the hang of it now!).

What does a day at Sarabellknits consist of?

When I'm not working at the portrait studio, or teaching photography, I'm probably knitting new pieces for Sarabell. Recently I've been experimenting with naturally dyeing yarn, and hope to begin spinning my own dyed yarn soon! But on a typical day I'm usually in my studio (Which is the corner of the living room in my apartment) and knitting up either new ideas, putting together new headbands, or working on custom orders for my friends :)

What or who inspires you?

Taylors "Moth Dancer"

When I was in art school working on a piece,

I would always become inspired by other pieces

of art that were either magical or whimsical, especially

by my favorite photographer Maggie Taylor.

I don't really know why I'm so inspired by fairy tales

 and magic, but I am, and my

 work reflects that. Perhaps its the kid in me :)

 
What do you find most challenging running your own business?

Keeping organized, especially the business end of it. It was a lot harder when I was in school (dealing with a full load of classes, 2 part time jobs, and STILL finding time to run my business!) Now that I have a little more time, I can focus more on improving my business and things like that.



Where do you hope to see Sarabellknits in the next year?

My goal is to market myself A LOT in the next year, on etsy as well as in person. I want to sell more of my pieces to local shops. Like I said before, I want to begin spinning yarn and working with that, so another goal for me is to get a spindle and find a local place to purchase roving!

Definitely a night owl. I got to stay up and watch my Robot chicken!

Hmmm, thats a tough question. At the moment? A car. Because I don't have one right now :(

A coffee...gotta love Dunkin Donuts :)



Whats the farthest place from home that you've been?

I think it was when we went to a cruise to the Bahamas. Which was AWESOME!

The morning started off great with a team of 5-0's blocking off the street for a drug raid.  Made me late getting the granddot to school so I stopped to ask one of the officer's if he'd write me a note so that she'd not get a tardy slip and I'd not get a phone call...

The officer standing point didn't think I was funny so I didn't get the note, but got the slip and moments ago the call.

My name is Jamie, I was born and raised in NJ. The Shore area, I loved growing up there, and then I moved to SC about 4 years ago. I am married to a wonderful husband and we have 6 beautiful children.

Your jewelry creations are unique and wonderful, what's inspired you to create jewelry?

"Thank you for your comment. People are my inspiration, nature, children, family, friends etc. Inspiration is all around me, to give me my great ideas. Just to see a simple smile or a reaction on a person face is all I need. I love it when someone is wearing my jewelry and is excited about it. It inspires me to continue doing what I love to do."



How long have you been creating jewelry?

                                        

"A couple of years"

 Do you have a favorite style?

"My favorite style is Victorian style, vintage, I love working with glass pearls."

What would you say differenciates your jewelry from others?

"Good question! I try to stay with the styles of today, with a hint of yesterday. Most importantly, every piece has to have a little bit of me in it because I am unique."

If there were any one thing you could change or improve upon what would that be?

"I would add more hours to my day! I just don't seem to have enough of them hehee!"

Do you have a faved piece, one you could just not let go of?

"Yes, as an artist I'm sure a lot of people create pieces that are hard to let go of. I try to let them all go, but this one I just couldn't part with. I made a onyx and mother of pearl necklace, I put it in my shop, I went to bed thinking about how I didn't want to sell it. I just liked it that much, so that morning I took it out of my shop, and its been mine ever since.. YAY!"



Do you have a piece you've let go of you wished you'd not?

"Of Course, I just hope someone loves it as much as I."

           

 

Have you an interest in other creative hobbies?

 

"Yes, I have a couple other creative hobbies. I have been an artist all my life pretty much. I can draw, I love to paint. I went to college for graphic art, Photography, jewelry design, and I like to sing."

 

 

 

What do you like to do for fun, unwind?

"In my down time, when I'm not creating something. I like to spend time with my children, my husband, family and friends. Take long drives, listen to music, read and just relax, getting lost in my thoughts and taking it all in."

"No, I have such a problem going back and returning things. I have always either waited till I forgot I had the item. Or I give it away to someone who wants or needs it."

Ever hit a car parked in a shopping center with your shopping cart?

"Yess...it was the winds fault! Oopss!"

Ever cried your way out of a speeding or other traffic ticket?

Pet peeve?

I think my biggest pet peeve would have to be, chairs not being pushed in. If you have to pull a chair out to sit in it, why not push it in, when your done sitting? hmm seems yet to be a mystery around my house?

It's really hard to choose just one song. I love all types of music, but if I had to choose an artist, It would be Tim McGraw, I love his music. =)
