Jack and Bobby

A rare and vintage print of brothers John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy by artist Alton S. Tobey titled 'Brothers United'.

I wanted to share with you one of my recent vintage finds.  Of all my vintage print finds, this is one of my most faved.  What most captivates me is the fact that it is of both JFK and RFK together.  Through the years I've found a number of individual prints with either Jack or Bobby, but not both.

The frame is that of a guilded gold painted oval style frame with a curved or convoluted glass.

The glass and print are in excellent condition, however the frame is in need of some repairs.  The overall size is impressive at 20" tall and 14" wide.

In one other area of the frame the guilding has been chipped as far down as to expose the wood.

All in all I believe a nice frame for restoration.

Should I delve into restoration I will post.  For now I'm going to admire and decide as to whether restore or sell?

Thanks for stopping by!!

It looks like the print is in great shape, I love the uniqueness of the curved glass.
I don't think the frame needs much work! either way fixing it will only increase its value :)

Maybe I should do a presidents painting series

Hi Sergio,
Thanks for visiting. A presidents paint series would be great. Give your talents I'm sure would be a hit. Thank you for your kind comments and I do hope to restore this frame to it's original state. Have a wonderful week!

What a find! I would have a hard time parting with this. I would definitely try and restore it if you can figure out how to do it :) I love the curved glass, never seen that before. And an interesting shaped frame to boot!

Hi Kinetickatie,

Thanks so much for the visit and kind comments. Oh I know will be hard to part with if infact I do. My big worry is whether or not to take to a professional and the cost, ugh! In a way, the chips and cracks add character and that sense that it's been around for a while ya know?

I wouldn't be surprised if that went for big bucks, I've never seen anything like it!

Hi MrsO,

Nice to see you again! Thanks for visit and the nice comps. You'll have to explain "Daemons" to me one day. Talk soon and have a nice evening.

I just saw this painting at a garage sale and wanted to add it to my Kennedy Collection but they were asking a lot! Could you tell me if it's worth the money? Even if it isn't, I still might have to go back and pick it up for my classroom.

I found it. It's called Brothers United and it really depends on whether its an actual painting or a poster reproduction.

Hi Anony,
Thanks so much for your comment. I'd found that the artist Alton S. Tobey is the painter. I believe this to be a print reproduction. Was the one you found at the sale a painting? If you like you can reach me via email at:

Thanks for the visit and I will update my post to reflect the artist.

I also have a printed 1968 d.a.c ny copy of brothers united. (Full size 20x24). It's been in my family since my parents got it. It was put in an old metal picture frame that had a light in it on the bottom. Willing to part with it if price is right
